Quinta Santa Cristina — an artisan family estate dating to 1869, 15 minutes by car, offering tastings, cellar tours and a 10% discount to Casa do Sol guests on tastings and bottle purchases. Quinta de Outeiro and Casa da Senra — smaller family producers within 20 minutes where the owner pours personally. Aveleda — the largest Vinho Verde producer in Portugal, 30 minutes by car, with a formal estate tour and gardens.
Restaurants in Celorico de Basto and surroundings. Tradicional Minho cuisine within 5–25 minutes of the villa — caldo verde, bacalhau à brás, posta mirandesa, fumeiro de porco, river fish, broa de milho and Vinho Verde by the glass. We will share our current short-list on arrival with directions, parking notes and a recommendation for the chef's-table option of each.
Wellness providers. A yoga teacher from Guimarães who runs sunrise sessions on the south terrace (60 min, vinyasa or yin, mats provided). A deep-tissue therapist trained in Porto for 60- or 90-minute in-villa massages. A certified forest-bathing guide for half-day shinrin-yoku walks along the Tâmega. Caldas de Vizela thermal spa town (20 minutes) for deeper hydrotherapy — we can pre-book slots to skip the morning queue.
Transfers and guides. A vetted local driver who speaks English and Portuguese, available for Porto airport (OPO) transfers — particularly useful for late-night arrivals — and for full-day private tours of the Douro, the Atlantic coast or Peneda-Gerês National Park. Child-seat-equipped vehicles available on request. A sommelier-led winery driver for 1–3 day tasting itineraries through Basto, Amarante, Penafiel and the western Douro.
Activities and culture. Hiking guides for the Serra do Marão foothills and the PR1 Celorico trail (chestnut groves, Arnoia Castle, river beaches).
